When we boarded the plane for Honduras on June 5, 2025, our hearts were filled with expectation. This was our first Missions trip for our ministry and my Wife’s first time back to where she was born and raised after over 25 years. As a family — my wife, our two children, and I prayed, prepared, and planned for this trip to Villanueva. Yet, as we often say in ministry, God always does more than we plan for.
Meeting the Children We’ve Been Praying For
For several years, First Step Ministry has partnered with local churches and an orphanage. Through prayer, offerings, and communication, we’ve supported them from afar — but this trip changed everything. We finally had the opportunity to meet the very children we’d been praying for and helping for so long. Seeing their smiles, hearing their laughter, and knowing that our ministry had been part of their story reminded us that faith in action truly makes a difference.
Ministry Beyond the Schedule
Our schedule was full — preaching and ministering at multiple churches across Villanueva. But as always, God had divine appointments waiting that weren’t written on our itinerary. One of the most powerful moments came when we were invited to minister to the youth at several churches. What started as a brief visit turned into an encounter filled with worship, prayer, and tears. God opened doors to speak into young hearts, and we left those moments reminded that the next generation is hungry for truth and love.
God’s Hand in Every Step
Throughout the trip, we saw the hand of God guiding us. Each open door, every conversation, and every new relationship was evidence that this was His work, not ours. We came to Honduras expecting to serve — but we left having been transformed ourselves.
As we reflect on this journey, we are reminded of the Scripture:“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think…” – Ephesians 3:20Indeed, God did more than we planned for.
A Word to Our Supporters
To all who prayed, gave, and encouraged us — thank you. You were part of every sermon preached, every child we hugged, every prayer spoken. Your faithfulness allowed First Step Ministry to take another step forward in what God is doing in Honduras. The mission doesn’t end here. It continues — in the hearts of those we met, in the lives that were touched, and in the plans God is still unfolding. From our family to yours — thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s keep taking the next first step together.
